Terms & Conditions

1. DRIVER'S LICENCE
All drivers should have held a valid driver's licence for five years or longer.

  • A current acceptable overseas, New Zealand or International licence is required from all intending drivers.
  • At the Manager's discretion, a holder of a licence for less than five years is acceptable but may incur a higher insurance excess.

2. RENTAL DURATION
24 hours from time of pick up.

  • Additional hours are costed at 1/5 of the daily rate up to five hours and a full day thereafter.
  • Payment is to be made at commencement of hire by either cash, travellers' cheques or credit card.

3. TAX
Goods and Services Tax (GST) is included in all daily hire prices.

4. INSURANCE
Standard insurance excess is NZ$1500 for drivers over the age of 25 years old. Windscreen insurance is optional.

5. BOND
A bond is required for all hires.

  • You may be asked to sign a separate security bond in the form of a Credit Card imprint, or give a cash deposit.
  • This bond is held by NZ Car Rentals (Able Rentals) and is not banked.

6. EARLY RETURNS
Returning a hired vehicle early may incur a penalty of one day's hire.

  • The daily rate on any discounted or special hires may be recalculated at rack rates.

7. CHILD AND BABY SEATS
Child seats are now compulsory on New Zealand roads (under 5) and may be hired from our branches.

  • Please order at time of reservation stating age of child so correct size may be booked.

8. CANCELLATIONS
Cancellations made within seven days of commencement of hire incur a penalty fee of one day's rental, or 10% of the total hireage fee; whichever is the greater.
